Various Works, 2015-2016

These works are influenced by media events, the effects of climate change and mass migration that continues to impact globally as cultures are forced to relocate for a variety of reasons. The sublime and the beautiful influence my works as the historical text, ‘A Philosophical Inquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful’, Edmond Burke 1909;[1] defines and nominates different emotional states humans experience, and their relationship to ideas of the sublime. Burke suggests that whatever is terrible, or a conversation about terrible objects, subjects, or danger, is a source of the sublime. Burke suggests that the sublime has the potential to produce the strongest emotion that the mind is capable of.
